So the last couple of days, I've been feeling kind of funny. Really lightheaded and dizzy, and my hands and feet have been swelling up a lot more. So I called my doctor, and the nurse on call said that I should head up to Labor and Delivery to see what they say. -sigh-
So I went in to the hospital Thursday around noon because I was concerned that my blood pressure was elevated (hence the dizziness and shortness of breath, etc). They stuck me on a super uncomfortable bed for about 3 hours--although I did get a sandwich and a giant mug of ice water out of it--and didn't tell me anything really about what was going on. I asked if my blood pressure was high and they said yes, it's right on the edge of not being good. So the cut off for blood pressure is 140/90 and mine was floating around there, sometimes a little over, sometimes a little under. After three hours of me getting the feeling that nothing was really wrong, a doctor came in and said that my situation could escalate and they wanted to keep me and monitor everything for 24 hours. -sigh-
So I had another night in the hospital. After keeping the baby monitors on me for a few more hours, they said Ethan was doing perfectly well and they didn't need to watch him anymore. They collected my pee for 24 hours, kept coming in to draw my blood, monitored my blood pressure and heart rate, etc, etc. It was all pretty irritating and by Friday afternoon I was ready to be home. It was strange because half the doctors and nurses would come in and talk to me like there was real danger and I should be on bedrest and then the other half would come in and act like I shouldn't be in the hospital because nothing was wrong with me at all.
In the end, they pretty much discharged me without telling me anything. The nurse came in and told me they didn't have my labs back but I could go home (which was great with me). I asked her when they would call me to talk with me about it and she didn't know anything about it. She brought a wheelchair and told me I could use it to push my bags out and pretty much said see you later. It was funny because as I was walking out of the hospital, people kept asking me what I was doing and they were all shocked that they made me wheel myself out of the hospital. I felt fine, so I didn't mind.
I'm meeting with my doctor on Tuesday (she came by to see me on Thursday, because she was in the hospital delivering babies) and so hopefully they will have sent the information over to her and she can tell me what she recommends. I'm planning on taking it pretty easy until the baby comes now, just moving slowly and not stressing out.
I will be glad when I am not pregnant anymore so that I won't have to go to the doctor for silly little things like rapid heartbeat or dizziness and swelling. Bah.

loaner bassinet?
Does anyone have a bassinet or a cradle that we can borrow? We are planning on getting a crib, but I have decided we want to have the baby in our room at night for the first little bit. And I'm not into buying something that I will only use for a few months.
If anyone has any ideas as well (other than the laundry basket, I've already ruled that one out), let me know!

waste of time
I walked by a stand of the U's newspaper, the Chronicle, and saw this on the front page. Honestly, it is disgusting to me. I cannot think of a bigger waste of our Legislature's time. They should be focusing on more important things than passing a "congratulatory resolution" for the U football team.
(I will be posting belly pictures soon.)
