a post from brett

Brett posted the following on another blog we have. The preface to this post is that Ethan failed his hearing test (the newborn one they do in the hospital) in his left ear. They tested him 4 or 5 times on different days before the audiologist decided that we needed to do a more sophisticated test. We went in for the test last Thursday.

"ethan's ears"

ethan had his ears tested yesterday. there is a problem with his left ear, but it is not associated with the auditory nerve or the brain. there is 1 millisecond delay between his left and right ears, which suggests a problem in the middle ear. so he can hear. the threshold in his right ear was 25dB and in his left ear (the one with the delay) it was 45db. So now we have to schedule an appointment with a baby ENT. They have a surgical microscope they can use to look deeper into his ear. The current theory is still the same as before, middle ear infection.

ethan loves blythe

have a good day.

Oh, I am sorry to hear that. Hopefully it's just an infection,it will clear up and all will be okay.

Sorry to hear. But with parents like you two, I'm sure litle Ethan will be just fine.
