antelope island back in july

In July, my family went on a camping trip to Antelope Island. Dave and Devon weren't there because they were in New York, and Amy and Jamison weren't there because he had just broken his leg. But the rest of us went and we had a really nice time.

Brett and I drove out on our motorcycle. Mom took this picture from her car, driving behind us. (Dad was driving, so she wasn't doing anything dangerous.) She was trying to get a "romantic" shot of us on our bike. But right as we got onto the straightaway, Brett took off. I think he got up to 100mph, but I don't remember. So this is the "romantic" shot that Mom ended up getting.

Funny I make sure to let everyone know that Mom wasn't being dangerous, as I go on to explain how Brett and I were roaring down the straight road at 100 mph.
Colette is helping unpack all the stuff.
We went out swimming in the Lake. It was really very interesting. Everyone from left to right: Nicolle, Johnathan, Rob, Dad, me, Chris, Colette, and Brett.
Chris and Brett out floating in the weird salt water.
It was really fun, because it was shallow enough for Colette to walk around on her own. She would have floated around if it had been deeper, but she didn't want to try floating.
We always take a shoe shot when we go on trips. I can't remember why we started, but it's something we always do with Jackie and Joel. (It was probably Brett's idea.) Thanks to my mother-in-law for the water shoes. She got them for us about 4 years ago and this is the first time we've used them!

In this picture you can see the salt dried on my skin. I was expecting the water to be more smelly than it was, but it really just smelled like the ocean. The gross part was when I took my suit off, and saw all the little brine shrimpies that were all over my body. We had a good long shower right after, and used the shower stall that had a wand in it--just to make sure we got every shrimpie off.
After swimming (and shower), we headed back to camp for dinner. The sunset over the lake that night was so nice. From the campsite, you can't see any city lights. It was really neat.
Here's the Master Camper the next morning, fixing breakfast. If you ever want to eat gourmet while you camp, go with my dad. He's a professional camper (because of long years of mistakes and us complaining).
I love this picture of the little minkey, Colette. She's so crazy. I think at this point, she had decided that she was going out to get a closer look at one of the buffalo. She probably even had plans to ride it when she got close enough. You can see the determination in her walk.
The babies sat on my motorcycle for a bit, while we watch the buffalo. Cute kids.

yesterday i was feeling like i wanted to be closer to recreational sites. im sure we could go camping out in a forest preserve or something but its just not the same without family and friends. maybe its true that some day we will have to move into salt lake
